Why have Breast Lift Surgery?
For some women there is a noticeable reduction is breast firmness (sagging) usually seen after pregnancy or after a significant weight loss.
Procedure during the operation?
A breast lift is performed under general anaesthesia . The process is similar to that of a breast reduction and during the operation an incision is made around the areola, from the areola down to the crease of the breast and, in severe cases, also in the crease of the breast. The aim of the operation is to give the breast a better shape. The incision is then closed with plastic stitches and a drain is placed. The drain is removed the following day.
What to expect after the operation?
Patients can expect to experience some swelling and pain after the surgery. However, these can be alleviated with painkillers. A support bra should be worn for approximately 6 weeks after the surgery to ensure the desired results are achieved. The stitches are removed 14 days after surgery and this can be arranged with your local GP or nurse.
When can you resume normal activities?
Lifting and strenuous exercise should be avoided for the first 3 weeks after surgery.

As with most surgeries, patients should avoid lifting and strenuous activities for 3 weeks after the operation. It is especially important to wear the support bra provided as this will ease any discomfort and provide much needed support in the weeks following the operation.
